GETTING CLOSE!

50/50 #46

50/50 (46)
This background is a variety of Asian papers collaged down then glazed with a few colors.  This was one of my most favorite backgrounds.  I am definitely going to do this idea in a larger format sometime soon.  The drawing works very well on this surface.  It just needed a little white accents.

I really like how you've incorporated textured background into your drawings. Did you draw this in charcoal then added the shadow with ink?

Another in which you've let the background texture and color actually replace the lines around the hairline. It is stunning work, Myrna.

Hwee, thank you for commenting. All the images were drawn with ink or diluted black gesso directly onto the background without any possibility of correction. No charcoal was used. A little like flying without a net!

Sherry, you are always so complimentary. I think I should hire you as my publicist!

This is my favorite background so far. I really like the mesh-like texture.
