LATEST DEMO FROM SCVWS WORKSHOP

This is the painting I created for the demonstration of an older face in full or 3/4 view.  I like to show different surfaces, so this one has tissue paper collaged onto the surface of watercolor paper with 50/50 mat medium and water.  Let it dry and then draw the image and paint with watercolor.  Oddly enough, tissue paper has a grain.  I must pay attention to that next time so I don't get horizontal wrinkles.  That only happens in real life with a bad face lift!  I think the background could use another wash to even out the color a bit.  Tomorrow everyone will complete their first painting.  I should have a nice slide show to share with you.

I didn't know about the grain on tissue paper. Good tip! I love the way you render eyes - so expressive.

Hello, I just have found your blog and I'm so happy I have. There is so much information for someone like myself who is teaching her self this wonderful thing called art. I thank-you so for all the great information and the time you have put into this and share.
I'll spend hours going through your writtings and can't wait to start, your're new year goals are about the same as mine want to draw people but have a hard time with this. Can you please have some notes on gesture sketching and drawing the fiqure if you have the time maybe books or dvds to look at. And how do you paint your own collage paper.
Have been looking on the computer for painting paer for your journals and I'm not doing well.So Thank-you again,
Linda

Horizontal wrinkles on the brow work well. I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it, I was enjoying the expression that you caught on the face. Do you stretch your paper before the tissue collage or just go for it?
