I FINALLY GOT MY BRUSHES WET!

I was determined to get some painting done today.  With a demo scheduled in a few days, I went looking for an image I could use. I didn't have a lot to choose from but this image was still in the computer.  I think this woman has an interesting face. The image was quite washed out with little contrast or color.  I was able to create some interesting effects with Photoshop Elements.  It was wonderful to get my brushes wet again.  I wasn't able to keep working and finish this piece, but it's good to have something ready to go in the morning.  I started out vertically for the drawing.  I even attempted to paint it in an upright position but with Tyvek the paint just runs off the paper.

Looks to me like you're good to go Myrna.
Nice start for a new year. Best of success with your upcoming demo.

Can't wait to see your demo on Sunday! I was able to finally squeeze into your second workshop with SCVWS -- I am so thrilled, haha!

Regarding your previous post of crashed hard drive (
I just saw the post since I was on a trip) -- is it hardware problem or only a software problem? If it is only software, I might be able to help... If it is hardware crash, then you would need special devices to retrieve the data :-(, and most likely have to have someone pro to do it... If there is anything I can help, just drop me a note (elflling@gmail.com). Hopefully you'll get all your photos back soon...

Hi Myrna, Glad you were able to get your brushes wet again! I love the strong colors. Your use of texture is great; it works so well with your portraits!

Hi Kathy, I love drips, too. The best thing about Tyvek is how the colors mingle when you leave them to do their "thing". Thanks for stopping by often and leaving a great comment.

Thanks, Ken. The best thing about a demo is people don't expect a masterpiece in an hour, so the pressure is off.

Elfling, excited you will be part of the workshop! Thanks for the offer regarding the data. My next post talks about my decisions and solutions.

Hi Dan, thanks for the compliment. Hope it finishes up well.

Peggy, thanks for checking in. The texture is built into the paper. It's why I use it...all I have to do is paint and watch the colors meld together. Great fun!
