WHAT IS IT ABOUT REDHEADS?

This woman and I have a lot in common.  We both hit the bottle....the dye bottle, that is.  The red dye bottle, to be exact.  She, however, is bolder than I am.  I always tell my hairdresser it has to be a color of red that someone could actually grow.  I have noticed in my European trips that this shade of red is very popular.  It really draws my eye and I have a nice collection of redheads in my photo file.  This lady kept showing up in the same places I was visiting one day.  I was finally able to get a good photo op.  This is painted on hot press paper with square brushes.  I started out trying to put a landscape background but it was not working.  This background keeps the focus where it needs to be.

Hi Myrna,
I'm still laughing and so is my wife. Aside from brightening our day, this is a wonderful portrait in every respect.
It feels like you made yourself invisible and were completely free to capture her.
Great work!
Sincerely,
Gary.

Oh Myrna, we redhead do need to stick together. We seem to have more personality than most

Hi,Myrna,
Interesting. Very interesting post and the nice portrait!! One professor(Scot origin) had red hair that caught my eyes. I secretly made her portrait. After that, I determined to become a portraitist.
Cheers,Sadami

Red hair is so much fun to paint--so many beautiful colors. My stepdaughter has a rich dark coppery red that turns brilliant in sunlight--which I marvel at and envy with my mousy ash brown. Always wanted to go strawberry blonde--but too scared! So I guess mousy suits me.

Myrna,
I think you made her more attractive than she actually is. It was fun seeing her first at lunch and then 3 or 4 more time that afternoon. Was she following us or vice versa?

Hi Myrna, You're so right, that certain red hair is very popular. When we were in Germany, we saw it everywhere. It was more popular than blonde. I do like you portrait; it has such a wonderful, painterly feel.

I remember in Budapest all the older ladies had maroon red hair!!! I have always had a soft spot for redheads.
