I scrubbed out the bottom half of the painting and redrew with a watercolor crayon. I kept the painting in a vertical position so I wouldn't have a distortion. I decided to put the knee in so I wouldn't have to deal with one of the hands. I think the painting is better, the proportions more accurate but I don't consider this a successful painting. I guess you can't win them all. Next!

Really like this painting. your use of colour is very good.
I don't know why this painting touches me so...I think it reminds me of my father, the lean face, the chiseled cheekbones, the sitting and playing guitar :)
I really like the knee in the composition; I almost wish I hadn't read the comment about not wanting to deal with the hand. I think it adds emphasis to his intensity, as though he is folded around his music and only looking up because someone has disturbed his private world.
