POST TRIP PAINTING!
I was sitting at Gallery Concord yesterday, so I thought it would be a good time to start creating some paintings from my extensive photo file from my recent trip to Bruges and Amsterdam. This was one of my favorite images. The weather was so changeable, one minute sunny the next overcast and the next rain, then it changed back to sunny in a blink of an eye! It was one of those rainy moments when we were on top of a small bridge as a canal tour boat passed by. All their umbrellas were up and mostly the same color. What fun! Definitely a memory to cherish.

Oh what a wonderful painting! Did you know we had this type of weather all summer in the Netherlands?
Hi Judy. Yes, everyone in Belgium and Amsterdam remarked how it was the rainiest summer in 50 years! I checked out your blog. You can add a translator feature so those of us who don't understand Flemish can follow along!
Love this, and as Judy said, in the Netherlands, there are many words for rain--it rains so often.
Love it! -like how you have painted the umbrellas and the cloudy rainy day :) The canal reminds me of San Antonio's Riverwalk - I am still sorting my photo graphs to paint from my trip there :)
Ontheroad, The rain didn't bother us as it was on for a short time and then it stopped. Everything was green and lush. I loved seeing the fashionable women riding their bikes holding an umbrella and getting on with their day!
Hi Meera, I loved the Riverwalk. I look forward to seeing the paintings from your visit there.
Glad you enjoyed the places, faces and the rain. I rode my bicycle in the rain, with a baby and groceries and loved it too, and in fact miss it like crazy. Nothing like it here in the States.
Pleased to have stopped by.

So beautiful and so colorful!! I hadn't realized that the canals went right up to the walls of residences (like in Venice).
Hi Autumn! Bruges is often referred to as the Venice of the North. It has a different feel, though. More cozy!
Hi Myrna, Your watercolor is delightful and humorous! I'm enjoying reading about your trip and seeing photos.
Hi Peggy! Thanks for the nice comment. I was showing an artist friend your work yesterday and was disappointed that almost all of your Miss Kitty and your Toy Pony paintings were nowhere to be found! How about some archives on your website.
