SAME TOOL, DIFFERENT SURFACE

When I find a new tool, I like to try it on as many different surfaces as I can think of.  This is Canon Inkjet Photo Paper Plus Glossy ll 13" x 19".  It is the only larger format photo paper that will successfully take watercolor that I know of.    The paper was acting very much like YUPO, lifting back to white.  Photo paper has a coating that YUPO doesn't, so there are some differences.  Don't ask, you will need to discover it for yourself.

I failed to give a credit for the music on my little demo video.  The musician was Tom Rigney and the piece is called "House of the Rising Sun".  Tom often performs locally and is very entertaining!  You can check out his website for more information.  He has lots of cd's to chose from.

Your painting evokes a strong feeling in me, and I truly like what you've done. So masterful! Also, I was wondering about the recording. I recognized the song, but not the artist. Thanks for the reference.

Myrna, great piece. So I take it you used the coffee stirrer and black ink to draw the figure loosely, then you painted with either liquid or tube watercolors? Love the looseness, which expresses the character of this person so well.

I haven't thought about Tom Rigney in years, so glad you posted his name. Gary and I used to go watch him perform in Mountain View. In those days he was doing some Cajun tunes.

Love the watercolor on this paper! After watching your video last night, I decided to give it a try. Though it was late and I didn't want to make a mess, so I compromised and drew with pencil, arm extended. The oddest thing happened. When I went to do a normal drawing, I had to switch the pencil back to my drawing hand. It was unintentional. I can't believe that I picked up a pencil and drew with my right hand! How weird is that!
