NEW DRAWING PROJECT!

I decided I wanted to take up the challenge to do 30 to 50 drawings, each one drawn from the previous drawing.  I could only do one drawing from the original photograph.  This is a slight variation on an exercise in Robert Kaupelis' book Experimental Drawing where you have to do 50 drawings in a short period of time.  I couldn't deal with that stress!  The idea of working off of your previous work should produce some interesting results.  I started with a very detailed drawing, thinking I would drag out the distortions slowwwwwwwwly.  Ha!  Looks like I am moving too fast but I can't worry about what I will have left to work with towards the end.  I only need to think about the next drawing,  Think this is a fun idea?  Join me in the madness.

This is a great undertaking...how exciting! We had to do such a thing with a watercolor once...10 variations within an hour...talk about stress but it was so much fun
and the results were really amazing....as I am sure we are about to be amazed with your project here.

This is an insoired idea, like Chinese Whispers but for drawing. I'll be really interested to follow your progress, I already really like the steps you've made so far. Best of luck!

I would love to join you in this one, Myrna. I think it would kick me into another gear I need during these lazy days of summer and heat. Now...the picture to begin with has to be chosen. I'll be with you this week! I enjoy seeing all your derivations...who knows what it could turn into. As you said, like that game where someone says something and by the time it's gone through 15 more people, it's completely backwards and so different. Would you put color on any of these?

Anonymous, I hugged lots of people on Sunday. Reveal yourself!

Hi Cynnie, want to join in?

Hi Caroline, didn't know it was called Chinese Whispers. We call it "gossip". I like your name better. Give it a try!

Rhonda, glad to have you giving it a go. You can make up your own rules.....color would be okay, I think. The main point is to work off of your last drawing. That is where the magic is going to happen.

I love the idea of pushing yourself to see more-better yourself, etc. You're a fabulous artist and am glad I found you!

Leslie White directed me here and I am so glad. I have been pouring over your wonderful blog! I really like the idea of only doing one drawing from a photo, with the rest coming from each other. What a cool process this would be. I may have to take you up on that and join in the madness!
