LATEST PLANE ART

A whirlwind trip to Denver over the weekend for the wedding of my cousin found me with time on my hands during the flight. I wanted to try out a new pen that bleeds Ultramarine Blue. It is made by Pilot and is the Precise V5 extra fine. I learned about the pen in San Diego and used it in some of my demo paintings for the workshop. I was lucky to get the first isle seat on the plane...plenty of leg room but no tray! I was juggling everything on my lap and very grateful for the water pens because there was no place to put a cup of water. This little boy was at the final class of Mike Bailey's Watercolor Beyond the Obvious a few years ago. He was sooooooo bored. I have quite a few shots of him in various antsy poses with his hands over his face. It is going to make a great nine-patch painting! If anyone recognizes who this child belongs to, let me know.

Love what you can do with any pen, but this one's really cool!

Great gestures! I like how the hands and face work together to express his restlessness.

You make this look so easy Myrna - love the way you are able to capture emotions in your work!

What a way to pass a boring flight. Hope the wedding went well and they had decent weather. Great gestural lines and the bleeding of the blue from your new pen delights the eye... such a change from black or even sepia ink work. I'm looking forward to the series you plan from this creative flight.

Milind, I am getting ready to go to Spain but I will paint my Turban Man tonight or tomorrow, I promise! I have drawn him about 5 times now.

Sandy, the pen is great. Try drawing first then spritzing with water for an interesting effect.

Thanks Peggy, Jane & Joan

Rhonda, I plan to do nine in one like my self portrait. Can lightening strike twice? Let's hope!

Mike, I never said you were boring, but even you couldn't keep this kid interested!

Diann, I only post the good ones! They don't all turn out but the more you do the better you get at it and surprisingly most do work out okay!

Pierre, Your English is fine. My French is pathetic but I loved being in France (twice) I checked your blog and your sketches are tre`s charmant! (Can't figure out how to get the accent over the "e") Come back often and practice your English!

These are all fun, but the last one is a classic. You captured the boy's mood perfectly.

Nice work! Looks like the ink and water pens are both really fun to work with. Another thing to add to my wish list.

Where does one purchase a pen like the one you used in the portraits or, should I say, what does one ask for or look for! I just love the results of the pen and water work on this little boy!!!

The pen can be purchased at any office supply store.
