Here are two images I did sitting on the plane using the Sketch Club app on my iPad. I am starting to get the hang of it. I think this is my favorite app because of the ease of changing the tools, opacity and color.
After teaching in Bend, we came home for a few days then joined family and friends in Cambria for 3 days. Came home, switched suitcases and left for Iowa to celebrate the life of my brother in law who passed away much too young last week. We are back home now for a week before I leave for Bruge to teach. Out of town company coming on Saturday and will be here until I leave on the 26th. I doubt I will get much painting in but I will try to post the sketches I did in Cambria. I am hoping I will be able to post from Belgium. We'll see how that goes!

ReplyDeleteMyrna, Since you are doing so much traveling anyway, couldn't you find a bit of time to fly into Detroit, call me, I'll pick you up and put you up in my guest room (I'll cut some fresh flowers) and we can play with art for a couple of days. I know I could learn a ton from you.

ReplyDeleteI usually find images to paint in the magazine in the seat pocket. The first image is from some production of Cirque d'Soliel and the second image is David Copperfield, the magician. I do take some images to work with just in case I can't find something in the magazine.

Peggy, I can't wait to see what the iPad will do in your talented hands! There is an iPad app that will record each step in your painting and make a movie of the process on the iPad 2. I'm not sure which art app it is. Check around.

the first portrait is stunning, for lack of a better word! do you transfer these to paper and such from the app? they are WONDERFUL!

Hi Wanda, thanks for the question. I e-mail the images to myself and then put them in my photo folder. I can print them out but I rarely do. They are just for fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jo. I find the program Sketch club the easiest to work and I am getting better but there are some real pros out there who are familiar with digital painting on their computer.

ReplyDeleteWhen you're buying chocolate in Bruges-and you WILL buy chocolate-it's everywhere...go to Dumon. It's a small shop on a side street. Their candy is handmade by a family-owned business and has no preservatives or additives. This is, without a doubt, the best I have ever eaten. It's all beautiful and fresh, but my favorite was the marbled white choclate asparagus spears filled with milk chocolate and hazelnut mousse. I bought some for gifts but had to eat them all myself before I ever got home. Shameful, but true.
