THE BLUES IN RED |
I was excited to receive my complimentary copy of the latest mixed media book, INCITE 2 Color Passions, yesterday. This is the painting on page 13 that is included in this book. This is pretty close to the actual color of the painting. Unfortunately, this image reproduced in the book is very dark and way off. They use a digital image that I send them so I don't know what happened. This book is full of very exciting paintings, many of them experimental in technique and/or imagery. I can't wait to find the time to sit down and really read about each one of them.
Congrats, Myrna!! You deserve it. You always challenge something new and ENJOY it!!!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Sadami
I think that some of the reproduced pictures in books, magazines and show catalogs are too dark. I'm getting really frustrated with some of the reproductions, aren't you?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Salami. You are always so supportive!
ReplyDeleteHi Joyful. Usually catalogs of major shows have very poor color reproduction but that is understandable. These books require that you have your work sent to them camera ready and I hire a professional photographer to do this for me. The color should be better as they have more money for better production values. It is frustrating but what can you do!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Myrna! I really like the pattern/ texture on the papers in this one!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the book title. I'll check it out.
ReplyDeleteThat is sad, that the colors of your paintings are off in the book. I sympathize with you.
Lena
great painting and congrats on the publication
ReplyDeleteI'm a graphic designer with years of experience in Offset printing. An experienced layout person or lithographer will correct your image both for color optimization and for their particular press. What you see on your monitor will be darker in print, dur to the nature of backlighting. Another factor is whether your image is converted to CMYK, not RGB. It can get very complicated. Sounds like they just printed your image as it was sent.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kim. There were lots of patterned papers used in this one.
ReplyDeleteHi Lena, you should love the book!
ReplyDeleteHi Ellen, thanks for commenting. I love following your progress as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, thank you for the explanation. How can I avoid this in the future?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your inclusion, Myrna!
ReplyDeleteLove your work
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Sherry and Lisa. I appreciate your supportive comments.
