I am challenging myself to work on my art every day and create a minimum of 2 finished pieces each week. My intention is to explore ideas and techniques and push myself beyond my comfort zone. I will be working in a series with several different images. My interests at this time are drawing, line, texture and color. I will be posting exercises and challenges for myself and any others who wish to join in the Creativity Journey.

LEFT HANDED DRAWING
While I am waiting for my art supplies to return from Minnesota, I decided to do some contour drawings. This time I decided to try using my left hand (non-dominant) for a few. I was surprised how much control I had. I may spend more time drawing with my left hand. An interesting challenge. You might want to give it a try.
Oh, very cool! I love your contour studies. They reveal an amazing amount of the personality in just a few lines. I'm going to try this!
ReplyDeleteThe control and dexterity you have with your left hand is remarkable, Myrna. This is a great exercise, and could easily be applied to creating work that is more intuitive.
ReplyDeleteHi Myrna, Wow! You have great hand-eye coordination. I find it intriguing to see how you can achieve character and "likeness" with such loose, flowing line. Something for me to think about!
ReplyDeletewow that better thani could do with my dominate hand.. ive heard if you use the non dominate hand .. when you switch back the dominate hand really goes to town.. are you finding that to be the case?? some teachers reccomend you do always that as a warm up, before drawing...
ReplyDeletealso congrats on the award with the san diego watercolor society.. just saw your painting!! way to go!!
