I am challenging myself to work on my art every day and create a minimum of 2 finished pieces each week. My intention is to explore ideas and techniques and push myself beyond my comfort zone. I will be working in a series with several different images. My interests at this time are drawing, line, texture and color. I will be posting exercises and challenges for myself and any others who wish to join in the Creativity Journey.

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF MATISSE!
I found I had 4 out of 5 days available this week to take the Betsy Dillard Stroud workshop through the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society, so I signed up at the last minute. It has been a busy, busy week, but lots of fun and learning from one of the more innovative leaders in watercolor.
I felt a little lost on the first day, had to miss the second day, but started to pick up steam on the third day with two starts. Today we worked in some of the elements of a Matisse painting in our work with acrylics on watercolor paper. This painting is quite different than my usual work, but it was lots of fun. I need to make one small adjustment and then it will be finished. Tomorrow is "kitchen sink" day...my kind of thinking, exactly! Should be a wonderful ending to a great week.
Hi Myrna, I can see the Matisse! It is different but interesting. I can hardly wait to see what you do with the "kitchen sink!"
ReplyDeletelove this!
ReplyDeleteYou? Lost? That's hard to believe. I love the Matisse style painting. I look forward eagerly to the "kitchen sink" as well.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI see all of the Matisse elements in the back but the figure is pure Gauguin! How vibrant! Love it! Well-done!
