I am challenging myself to work on my art every day and create a minimum of 2 finished pieces each week. My intention is to explore ideas and techniques and push myself beyond my comfort zone. I will be working in a series with several different images. My interests at this time are drawing, line, texture and color. I will be posting exercises and challenges for myself and any others who wish to join in the Creativity Journey.

FINISHED PAINTING
I scrubbed out the bottom half of the painting and redrew with a watercolor crayon. I kept the painting in a vertical position so I wouldn't have a distortion. I decided to put the knee in so I wouldn't have to deal with one of the hands. I think the painting is better, the proportions more accurate but I don't consider this a successful painting. I guess you can't win them all. Next!
Really like this painting. your use of colour is very good.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why this painting touches me so...I think it reminds me of my father, the lean face, the chiseled cheekbones, the sitting and playing guitar :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the knee in the composition; I almost wish I hadn't read the comment about not wanting to deal with the hand. I think it adds emphasis to his intensity, as though he is folded around his music and only looking up because someone has disturbed his private world.
